Tech Trek

Tech Trek is AAUW’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) summer camp program for middle school age girls.  This program is designed to make STEM fields exciting and accessible to girls at the age when their participation in these fields statistically drops.

This program is near and dear to the Mid-Peninsula branch, as Marie Wolbach, a member of the Mid-Peninsula and Palo Alto branches, started Tech Trek with a grant from CA AAUW in 1998. She is currently Founding Director for Tech Trek STEM Camps for Girls at AAUW California, and has been awarded the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Gold Medal for Public Service Benefitting Local Communities (June 2015) for her work with Tech Trek.

Today, AAUW Tech Trek operates in 22 locations around the nation.

The Mid-Peninsula Branch awards annual scholarships to local girls to attend AAUW’s Tech Trek residential camp at Stanford University each summer.
